Taiwan Honeynet Project is a Chapter of the Honeynet Project. Founded in Nov. 2008 by National Center for High-Performance Computing(NCHC) in Taiwan, the Taiwan Honeynet Project supports the mission of learning th tools, tactics and motives of cyber threats and publishing the lessons learned. Our aim is to deploy distributed honeypot over the Taiwan Advanced Research and Education Network (TWAREN) for capturing the network attack traffic, realizing the setails og hacking technology and investigating the infection of malware. We hope that Taiwan Honeynet Project will raise awareness of current threats and vulnerabilities, and improve the make-up of defense strategies. |

Current Status: Taiwan Honeynet Project has deployed the large-scale Hybrid Honeynet with six-class C network in Taiwan education and research network. Our honeynet is hybrid structur, combined high-interaction honeypot and low-interaction honeypot. Moreover, this honeynet will capture current network attacking activities and malwares. Four members in Taiwan Honeynet Project will attend the 8th closed Annual Honeynet Workshop. The workshop will be held on 2009 Feb. 25th to March 1st in Kuala Lumpu, Malaysia. We hope we can realize the advanced security research around the world, get a chance to cooperate honeynet research projects with other Honeynet Chapter, and share the attacking data with other chapters. |

Running Projects : - Project 1: Distributed Honeypot Deployment
Develop a hybrid honeypot Live-CD to deploy distributed honeynet for capturing network attacking activities and detecting botnet in Taiwan. This Live-CD will assis different userd to deploy honeypots promptly and simply on differnet network. To deploy honeypots from end-user to backbone network will help us gather more traffic to correlate the neighborhood of botnet and analyze malware behavior embeded on the bot.
Project 2: Malware Explorer Malware explorer will be improving to probe malware websites based on Capture-HPC. The tool will capture malware |
